Frequently asked questions
Is my Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?
No. The QR code is built entirely in your browser, so the password only ever exists on your device and inside the image you download. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored.
Which phones can scan it?
The built-in camera app on modern iPhones and Android phones recognises Wi-Fi QR codes and offers to join the network. Very old devices may need a dedicated QR scanner app.
Which security type should I choose?
Pick WPA for virtually every modern router — it covers WPA, WPA2, and WPA3. Choose WEP only for old legacy equipment, and Open for a network with no password at all.
Anyone who sees the code can join — is that safe?
The code contains your password in plain form, exactly like writing it on a card. That is fine for a guest network on a wall, but do not post it publicly online, and consider a separate guest network for your main password.
My network name is hidden. Does it still work?
Yes — tick the hidden network option. That flag tells the phone the network does not broadcast its name, so it will still connect.
